We took a trip to Chicago’s Field Museum to see their special limited run Jurassic World exhibit featuring all manner of huuuge and realistic animatronic dinosaurs. Oh, and some were even huge people-led puppets! It was actually far cooler than I even thought it was going to be, so I figured I’d share some of the highlights.
We went in the after-hours portion which was quite empty, affording us ample time to take selfies with dinos and inspect all the creatures and tidbits. There were some great audio intros and, of course, a breach in the system that led to animal containment issues…
You travel to Isla Nublar as a VIP guest to see various Brachiosaurus, Velociraptors, and a live-action T-Rex, among others, including hatching eggs and baby dinos. You can interact with some of the displays to make your own designer dino prototype or compare sizes of dinosaur poop. Spoiler: it’s as large as a child. But if you’ve seen the original Jurassic Park, you already know this (queue the quote: “That is one big pile of shit.”)
I’m a super nerdy nerd so I wore my dinosaur print dress from Retrolicious and “Clever Girl” pin from Kate Gabrielle. When in Rome Jurassic World! (Purse by Dagne Dover.)
If you want to see more about traveling in Chicago, this post is a good start.
